SUNNY OLD TROYAN PLUM BRANDY
Sunny plum brandy is a product from the history of VINPROM – TROYAN, which was restored after many years.
From collected stories from old Troyan residents, we found out that many summers ago plum brandy was aged in oak barrels located in the very yard of the enterprise, instead of in a cellar. Thus, the barrels were exposed to the influence of year-round climatic conditions - sun, rain, snow, heat and cold.
Many claim that in this way the sunny brandy acquires a "thicker" consistency, and the truth is that the evaporation of alcohol is twice or triple higher than when aged in a cellar.
A few years ago, we decided to set two barrels for aging in this way. Both barrels are specially selected and are made of Bulgarian oak. Barrels number 453 and 454. We filled both barrels in December 2020. with specially selected rakia at 56%. At the beginning of 2024, after 36 months of aging, we conducted a tasting and decided to take out the contents of one of them - number 454, from which we produced 1232 pcs. hand-numbered bottles of Old Sunny Troyan plum brandy. We left the second barrel to age more and will bottle it further.
Unfortunately, we do not have a single label of this drink, so we have made one completely new in accordance with the product, the tradition of the company and modern trends.
